About Us

TO ALL BMW ENTHUSIASTS:

Members of the South Coast BMW Riders Club share many things in common, including a love of riding, being in the out-of-doors, a fondness for BMW motorcycles regardless of age or model, and the camaraderie of our sport. We are, in addition, friendly and somewhat extroverted people who enjoy the company of others with similar interests. We make new members feel welcome, and are eager to share with others the modifications and discoveries that we have made about our bikes, and to pass on to you tips that may be helpful. The club was founded in 1974 and has been in continuous existence since that time. The only membership requirements are the ownership of a BMW motorcycle and the payment of the annual club dues. There is no mandatory attendance at our monthly meetings or on rides or activities. "Safety First" is our motto and we have no rigid rules to follow (except within the framework of the club's bylaws), and no competition among members. We like to think of ourselves as a "laid back" group.

Your annual dues entitles you to our monthly newsletter which provides dates and information about upcoming rides, meetings, and activities, and articles about recent activities of the club and/or members' rides. We also include safety tips and suggestions. New members will receive a personal name badge with a BMW logo and a club enamel pin.

SCBMWRC holds a monthly breakfast/business meeting, usually on the first Sunday of the Month. The meetings usually start at 8 AM or 9 AM, and are usually followed by a planned ride of 100 to 200 miles on great motorcycle roads to a scenic or interesting destination. In order to better accommodate our nearly 200 members, most of whom live scattered throughout the greater Los Angeles-Orange County areas, our breakfast meeting locations vary from month to month. An additional activity/ride is usually planned for later in the month, and is often an overnight camping (or motel) trip to unique locations within about 300 miles of the LA/OC area. See the Club Calendar section for more specific details.

The club also co-hosts (with the San Diego BMW Owners Club) a BMWMOA and AMA affiliated rally, the "Big Bear BMW Rally," in early June. The weekend rally consists of camping, meals, games, social functions, rides, and lots of prizes. It lasts three days, and is designed to promote comradeship among BMW riders who come from several States to attend this annual event. Many of our club members attend other rallies throughout the United States and always welcome other members to join them.

If you are interested in information about or membership in the South Coast BMW Riders Club, you can get more information from the Membership Chairperson. Or, simply go to the membership page and print the application. After you have completed the application, mail it and your dues to the address at the top of the form. We'll quickly send you the latest newsletter, and put you on the mailing list. At your first club meeting, we will present you with your name badge, and we'll introduce you to the other club members.

ONE LAST THING! Please include, with your initial application, one or two paragraphs about yourself (and about your spouse if he/she is also joining) so that we can introduce you in the newsletter to other club members.
